I ran, as fast as I could. I had to be there. I NEEDED to be there for her. Every second that occurred felt like an eternity. An eternity where I'll never see her again...
Please God, let me save her.
(Flashback 1 hour ago)
It was late at night, 10:30 pm to be exact. Sensei was mostly done with his paper work, he just needed 5 more minutes to get his work done.
*Bwoop*
Sensei: A text this late?
Sensei looked at his flip over phone and pondered if he should respond right away or get his work done.
Sensei: Give me 5 minutes, ok
Saying to no one, other than his unattended phone.
After a good 5 minutes, Sensei was finally done with work.
Sensei: That's a lot better now
*Bwoop*
Sensei: Coming
Sensei looks at his notifications and noticed they had all came from Misaki. But the latest message concerned him.
Misaki: Goodbye Sensei.
Sensei: What!? no, no, NO!!!
He knew that Misaki had a history of suicide attempts. Growing up was not kind to her and her team. She had lost hope for a better future, even when it was presented in front of her.
Sensei knew she needed some time. Time to see the hope in this world, so he promised himself that he would guide her closely. But at this point, be believed he was going to fail her.
Sensei quickly scrolled through the history of messages she sent.
Misaki: Sensei?
Misaki: Can I call you?
Misaki: You're probably busy with paperwork.
Misaki: I'm sorry for bothering you.
Misaki: I'm just getting tired.
Misaki: ...
Misaki: Goodbye Sensei.
Sensei: FUCK!
He was late to respond. He tried to text and call her back with no response.
The cogs in his head were over clocking like crazy.
Sensei: The oldest message was 10 minutes ago. Anything could happen in 10 minutes. I have to get to her.
Sensei quickly bolted out of the room and asked his trusty AI's for help.
Sensei: Arona, Plana, I need you to find Misaki.
Arona & Plana: On it
Sensei: Please hurry
As Sensei got to the ground floor his helpful AI students gave him a location.
Arona: Sensei, Misaki is at the Momo Hotel.
Plana: That's just 5 blocks away.
Arona: We'll give you the quickest route on the map.
Plana: You got this Sensei.
Hope and determination filled the teacher's heart and mind.
Sensei: Thank you girls.
(Flashback end)
Sensei was panting hard, but couldn't stop pacing around in the elevator. Moments ago, he asked the front desk about his student room number. The front desk quickly understood after he showing his ID. They told him that she was on the 7th floor.
Arona: Sensei, your heart rate is still considerably high.
Sensei: Arona, I ran 5 blocks.
Plana: Sensei, you're not running anymore.
Sensei: I'm fine you two. I just need to breathe.
Arona: Sorry Sensei...
Sensei looked down for a moment.
Sensei: Don't be sorry girls. I just...I just can't lose her ok. I just hope I'm not too late.
Arona: We understand Sensei
Plana: Hmm
The doors to the evaluator opened and Sensei ran out.
Sensei: Come on 727, 746, 759...bingo.
Sensei stepped in front of the door of 777 and knocked on the door.
Sensei: Misaki you in there?
No response
Sensei: Misaki! Please respond!
No response...
Sensei: Damn it...
Sensei began to ram his body against the door. Again, again and again.
Sensei: Argh, let me IN!
Sensei broke through the door and saw that it was dark. He quickly turned on the lights and assessed the room.
Sensei: Misaki? Where are you?
He frantically looked from the window, the messy bed and finally to the slightly opened door to the bathroom.
Sensei: I know she's in there.
Sensei: Sorry for my intrusion
Sensei slowly opened the door to see Misaki in the bathtub.
Sensei: Misaki?
Misaki: Sen-sei?
She looked pale, really pale. Her body almost immersed in the water. As if...
Sensei: I got you Misaki.
He gently brought Misaki out of the water and brought her to a seat next to the window. He gently laid her cold body down.
Sensei: Hey, I'm going to get a towel. I'll be right back.
As soon as he was about to leave a small hand grabbed his own.
Misaki: D-Don-t L-eave.
She was shivering like a leaf. He needed to get her warm fast, but he saw the pleading look in her eyes. As if he would disappear in front of her.
Sensei quickly turned around and clasped his hands around her hand.
Sensei: Misaki, I promise I won't leave you. I'm just getting a couple of towels so that you can get warm.
Misaki: P-pro-mise?
Sensei: I promise under my Lord's name.
Misaki: o-ok
As Misaki left Sensei hold, he quickly made his ways towards the bathroom.
Sensei: Towels, towelssss. Found them, three warm towels.
When he got back to Misaki. He began to dry Misaki as best as he could. From her hair, clothes and face. After that was done, he wrapped her body with the driest towel he had and sat across from her.
Where they sat, they had a nice view of the city. It was a beautiful night like any other. But this night was especially nice. Not only was he able to see his precious student. But she was alive and breathing.
Misaki: ank ou
He heard his student muttered under her breath.
Sensei: Huh?
Misaki: Thank you.
She said a little louder
Sensei: No problem, I got you.
The two stay in silence after that. One is admiring the city the other looks at the person who saved her once again.
She wondered why, why save her and not question her actions? Why was he being so nice? And did she even deserve his kindness?
Then an idea popped in her head. She wondered if he would answer he pleas once again.
Misaki: Sensei?
He looked over to his student
Sensei: Yes?
Misaki: Can you...
Sensei: ...
Misaki: Can you hold my hand?
She presented her small hand towards him, while a small blush appeared on her face. Even at her paler state, she was pouring her feelings towards her Sensei.
Sensei: Of course.
He gently took her hand into his. Noticing her cold temperature, he gave her a gentle squeeze to warm her up.
Misaki: Huh, he actually listened...can I ask for more?
Misaki: Can you come closer?
He proceeded to get closer to her.
Misaki: More
And closer he went. To the point where their bodies were practically touching each other.
Misaki: Perfect
She put her forehead against his shoulder and gave a big sigh.
Misaki: Haaaa, why are you like this?
He gave a confused look.
Sensei: Like what?
Misaki: You came all the way here, saw me at deaths door and saved me without question.
Misaki: So w-why?
Her voice was starting to break.
Sensei: Because you're my stude-
Misaki: Stop
Her voice suddenly stern.
Misaki: No "normal" Sensei would hold his students hands. Warm her up and lend his shoulder to lay on. Am I wrong?
Sensei: *sighs* No you are not.
Misaki: Please tell me the truth.
Sensei: O-ok, It's a long story so bear with me.
Misaki: ok.
Sensei: I was once like you when I was younger. Even though I had so much at the time, I still was hopeless. I didn't see the reason for my existence. I didn't see a future where I was happy.
Misaki was looking intently at her Sensei.
Sensei: *sighs* I e-even...I even wanted to die, but I just couldn't. I couldn't leave the people who I loved behind.
Sensei looked down.
Sensei: Besides...I don't think I had the gall to do such of thing. I was too afraid what would happen next.
Sensei: So I thought more on this, why I was afraid of taking my own life. If I died, I might have been in hell. And hell is no way to "live". So I had to make do with what I had. I had to slowly understand there was hope in the suffering. There was happiness in the pain.
Misaki looked down at this.
Sensei: Misaki, this didn't occur in one day. My pain didn't go away in a few days, weeks or even months. It took years, it took a lot of thinking and understanding. Even to this day, I have those moments of despair. Where I don't think it worth it anymore. But I want to live, you know why?
Misaki: Why?
Sensei: I want to live for you, for myself and my Lord.
Sensei: I want to be a light who guides others to a better future. A future where we can live in peace for eternity.
Misaki: Sounds like a lot.
Sensei: Sure when you're by yourself, but I have my students and my faith.
Misaki laughed to herself
Misaki: Heh, wish I had more of that.
Sensei: Faith? That's easy.
Sensei: Remember this, "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you will receive it and it will be yours." Mark 11:24
Misaki: What if, what if I pray for the worst?
Sensei: Well, I believe the Lord wouldn't do such things, but he isn't going to give you these gifts right away. Faith is easy, but incorporating it in your life can be hard. Especially, when you're not use to it.
Misaki: Sounds hard...
She lets go of her Sensei and hugged her legs. Laying her head on her knees. He responded by putting his hand on her head.
Sensei: Hey, I never said this was easy. I wish it was, but you have us. You have your team, me and the Lord if you ever want to talk to him.
Misaki: Never really believed in him.
Sensei: Yes, and that's your choice. Your choice to receive him. I won't always be here, but please, please try to think of him when you can't remember anyone else.
Sensei: He will never reject you. As I won't as well.
Misaki: You're like him right?
Sensei: Maybe, but not him. He's the foundation of who I am. I wouldn't be me without him. And most importantly, still here because of him.
Misaki: Ok, I'll-I'll try praying whenever I have those thoughts.
He gave a gentle smile to her.
Sensei: Trying is all I ask Misaki. All he can ask.
The two were close, but so far away. One was cherishing the other, the other processing all that happened.
Misaki: Sensei?
Sensei: Yes?
Misaki: Can you stay the night?
Sensei: Of course
Misaki: C-Can you hug me?
He slowly made his way towards her and wrapped his arms around her. As he did she started crying. Tears that came down like a flood. A flood that wouldn't stop for anyone.
Misaki: *hick* I-I'm I'm so sorry.
Sensei: I'm here now.
Misaki: *hick* I almost left *hick* them. I almost *hick* left you all.
Sensei: But you didn't. You could have, but you had hope.
Sensei: I'm sorry for not answering your text. But just know, we all love you. And your will always be a welcomed in our lives.
Misaki: I *hick* love you too,
Sensei: I love you as well. My precious Misaki.
The two held each other like other would break like glass. The adult trying to be a rock that she can hold on to. The student, almost swept away by the waters that drowned her mind. The stay like this for a while, until he heard her shallow breathing. He picked her up and laid her gently onto the bed.
A miracle, a miracle had occurred. He saved her in the nick of time and perhaps saved her in the future. And now, he had to wait. Wait for better times or tragedy to strike again, but he knew that she would be saved. By not his own hands, but the hands of kind creator.
Sensei: Thank you for letting me save her, I promise I'll try to bring her into your fold. If I cannot, please, let her know you. Because you have the power to create miracles.
Sensei: *Whispers* I love you Misaki.
Misaki: I love you, Sensei.
She said in her sleep.
Sensei then fell into a blissful sleep. To dream about a future where he stood side by side with his students and his Savior.
-AN: I wanted to say thank you guys for reading my fanfiction. I know a few of you aren't religious, but I think its a good take on how you can help people like Misaki. I hope none of you experience those rain clouds. If you do, talk to a close friend, family member or even a religious figure. Remember you are never alone, because there will always be light in your darkest moments. See you and stay safe.
